How To Download and Embed YouTube Videos into a Powerpoint Presentation
I have recently been asked by multiple pastors and missionaries how they can play YouTube videos without having to be at YouTubes website. The problems are obvious…
The 2 Obvious Problems when Trying to Use YouTube in a Sermon or Presentation
Problem#1 YouTube Has Inappropriate Preview Images
This is not good if you want to show a video to an audience of ANY size. This is especially true of the homepage, which should be strongly avoided.
Problem#2 Good Internet Connection is Never Guaranteed
I have shown web pages in presentations dozens of times, and almost every time I had internet issues. Very Frustrating.
A Simple 2 Step Process for Downloading a YouTube video and inserting it into a PowerPoint presentation.
Step #1 Choose a Free YouTube Downloading software
- Media Converter
- Zamzar
- I like the 2 services above, but if you need more options checkout 23 ways to download YouTube videos
Step #2 Embed Video with Powerpoint Software (watch video)
YouTube has a ton of great content that can add a lot to a sermon or a presentation, but we must be careful not to endorse or broadcast inappropriate content to our audience.
If You Plan To Share Video Online Switch To Vimeo

Vimeo has taken the guess work out of sharing videos and has a nifty little tool that allows folks to download the raw file of the video. Look to the bottom right hand corner of this page for this button.

I love this idea! I am a sixth grade math and Bible teacher at a Christian school and have often found clever videos on YouTube, but until now had no way to use them in my classroom. I followed your instructions and was able to download and insert the video into my PowerPoint presentation, but every time I hit play, I get a “The application PowerPoint quit unexpectedly” notice. Help please!

Hi Susan, I wish I could help! It sounds like a technical issue with Microsoft Office (hear that sound a lot these days).
There is a step when you are downloading the video that you can choose different file formats. Try downloading the video in different formats and see if that works.
Let me know if that works!

Hi again- My youngest son, Jim, showed me how to use the right click on my Mac and then everything fell into place! I am sure I will use this time and time again! Thank you, Susan

I lead worship at a satelite campus for my church. Is it possible to put the lyrics to songs on top of the embedded video? I’d love to have one continuous movie playing behind the words for the entire worship experience.

Hello,\nI got 2 questions RE: youtube over to PP.\n(1) The video that I want had a song on it, But for some reason youtube took the song off, I want to use that video but I want to add my own song to it, How do I add the song (mp3) to that video once I embed that video into my PP?.\n(2) I got a few videos in my list in PP, But when I try to view a video beyond the first one (F5 key) it goes back to the first video that is in the list, How do I choose beyond the first one and have PP play it and not default back to the the first one in the list?.\nThanks
